Kelowna - Difficult to Control COPD
Many people living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) continue to experience flare-ups and worsening symptoms - even while taking long-acting inhalers and other prescribed medications. If you've had a COPD exacerbation in the past year and are still struggling with your symptoms, you may qualify for this local research study.
This study is evaluating a potential new investigational injection, designed to work alongside your usual COPD medications. The goal is to understand whether this approach can help reduce exacerbations and improve overall lung function and quality of life.
This study may be suitable for you if you:
- Are between 40 and 80 years old
- Have been diagnosed with COPD
- Are taking inhaled controller medications such as LAMA, LABA or ICS.
- Have had one or more COPD exacerbations in the past year (e.g., steroid use, antibiotics, ER visit, or hospitalization)
- Have elevated blood eosinophil levels
- Are a current or former smoker
- Meet additional medical eligibility criteria
What to Expect:
This is a Phase 2/3 study that lasts up to 60 weeks, including a screening period, treatment period, and follow-up.
Participants will:
- Attend up to 16 clinic visits
- Continue using their current COPD medications
- Receive either the investigational injection or a placebo
- Complete assessments on lung function, symptoms, and biomarkers
