Clinical Research

Internship Program

The Clinical Research Intern Program at Medical Arts Health Research Group is a six‑month, site‑based training experience designed to bridge the gap between academic study and that crucial “first role” in clinical research. Interns gain hands‑on exposure to the full lifecycle of clinical trials at the site level and leave the program ready to compete for coordinator and other entry‑level research roles.

Why this program exists

Many talented new graduates struggle to enter clinical research because most roles require prior experience that is hard to obtain. This program is designed to give you that experience in a structured, mentored environment, so you can build real skills, references, and confidence for a long‑term career in research or related health professions.

What interns experience

Over approximately six months, interns are immersed in day‑to‑day operations at one or more Medical Arts research sites. Typical areas of exposure include:

  • Participant screening, informed consent support, visit flow, and patient‑centred procedures communication.
  • Study start‑up, regulatory and ethics submissions, source documentation, and data entry in electronic systems.
  • Good Clinical Practice, protocol adherence, safety reporting, and collaboration with sponsors, CROs, and monitors.

Interns also gain a realistic understanding of site workflows, team roles, and career pathways in clinical research.

Eligibility and outcomes

Applicants should have:

  • A completed Bachelor of Science or Psychology degree (or closely related field).
  • Clear interest in clinical research as a career path and comfort working in a regulated, detail‑oriented environment.
  • Some clinical research experience is an advantage

Each year, capacity depends on external funding; typically, 3–5 interns can be accepted across our sites. Alumni of similar structured research experiences often move into clinical research coordinator roles, graduate studies, medical or pharmacy school, or other advanced training, carrying forward their foundations in evidence‑based, patient‑centred care. Interns are eligible to apply  for full time openings as they become available.
